Hoop class announcement

I've decided to shuffle things around a little bit in the hopes that more hoopers will be able to attend my class at Sho Fusion Dance Arts Studio

Hoop Dance for Beginners will now be held on Thursday nights at 8-9. Cost is the same, $8 if you have your own hoop, $10 if you borrow, and format is still obligation-free, drop-in style class. If you want to reserve a spot, email me at cj.berkshire@gmail.com. Hope to see you there!

How awesome is this photo of Augusta hooper Christina Miller, aka Foxphire? Loving the neon yellow polypro with that anime-worthy swoosh of red hair.

Hooping Takeover at Arts in the Heart of Augusta

This weekend was the annual Arts in the Heart of Augusta festival and hoopers were representing in force! The weekend started on Friday with a hoop performance on the global stage with 5 different acts including a piece by Gina and Vicki from the Columbia hoop group, as well as a few hoop acts at the family stage during the Joanie Lamb belly dance slot. Then, Pyroteque performed at the Global stage, ending the festival for the night on a high point. In the morning I performed with my hoop student Ashley, she did great! On Sunday I performed one last time with Cirque du Lune. I'm hoping to gather up all of the hoop photos from the weekend since hoopers were popping up all over the festival. Looking forward to next year!

Columbia Hooper Ashley Long on the News!

Columbia hooper and Hooping Idol contestant Ashley Long was on the news! Hooping.org has a great writeup about it and the video is below. Voting for the Hooping Idol Finale ended last night so we're all crossing our fingers about the result. However it ends up, Ashley has become a great spokesperson for hooping and it's awesome that she got to share her love of hoopdance with the news anchors and those watching at home.

Hooping at the Augusta Amphitheater

This is a glimpse of a different side of my practices. I've been working on that backspin-kickup thing and trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my flow. This video kind of represents how I go about that process on new tricks. That's why my style might seem a bit different here than in my other videos. Sorry the video is so dark, I was editing this late last night and got lazy.
